Arkema provides a series of high performance polymers, which include Kynar® PVDF, Pebax® polyamide elastomer, Rilsan® PA11, and Kepstan® PEKK. These high performance polymer materials, representing some of the world’s highest performing polymers, are specified to use in various demanding applications worldwide across an array of diverse markets from industry to consumer. 

Commercialized in 1965, Kynar® PVDF is designed for extreme environments. Its legacy has been proved by its outstanding track record in use for high durability skyscraper coatings (>50 years), subsea pipes for oil & gas (>25 years), and solar panel backsheet protection (>10 years).

The electrochemical environment in lithium ion battery is extreme as well. It is critical for engineers to design with purpose and caution when in the material selection process, where oxidation and high voltage threaten the integrity of the every material that is exposed.
