Lithium batteries lay the foundation for clean and fossil fuel-free through applications such as Battery Energy Storage Systems and Electric Vehicles. Due to risk of thermal runaway, lithium batteries are classed as dangerous goods in transportation. Shipping them to the customer through vast global logistics chains is often an overlooked subject, and a technical barrier to the international trade of lithium battery. In this Masterclass, participants have the opportunity to learn from renowned international experts about international standards, regulations and initiatives about transportation of batteries and the associated value chain.

In this kick-off session on April 13, SBC and UL management representatives will unveil the SBC-UL Masterclass Series with an overview of the theme of each Masterclass. Invited speakers from Enterprise Singapore, UL, and National Metrology Centre of Singapore will provide an introduction of the different standardization programs (including IEC, ISO, UL, Singapore Standards, Singapore metrology standards), and showcase how these standards play an indispensable role to support battery industry and innovation. Additionally, we aim to demonstrate how Singaporean stakeholders could exploit these programs to enhance their competitiveness and commercialize homegrown innovations.
